Hunza Valley In Winter – Is It Good Time To Visit ?

If you are planning to visit Hunza Valley in winter then you are not alone. Pakistan’s weather is hot and people from all around Pakistan love to visit cold areas. Most of the Pakistani’s love to visit Murree in winter because it’s near and easy to reach. Recently people are starting to visit other remote places like Naran Kaghan & Kashmir and Hunza Valley in winter to see the snowfall.

Hunza Valley in winter is chilling and it snowfalls regularly.  The average temperature in winter is -5 to -10 and weather is harsh because of its height. Most of the hotels are closed in the winter because there are fewer people coming in. Hunza Valley in winter is less crowded and most of the attraction are not accessible due to heavy snowfall.

Karakoram highway is open for traffic all year. So you can use Karakoram highway to reach Hunza Valley. There are chances of landslide but the Karakoram highway department is reliable and they will clear the road in a few hours. There is another route to reach Hunza Valley i.e. Naran/Kaghan passing through Babusar Top. But in winter this route is not accessible due to heavy snowfall. Hunza Valley Attractions In Winter Season

Most of the attractions are closed due to snowfall. One of the most favorite destinations in Hunza Valley is Attabad lake but in the winter season, this lake is also frozen. The rush lake is also one of the beautiful lakes of Hunza valley but unfortunately, it is also not possible to reach Rush Lake in winter.

Borith lake and Shimshal lake are also frozen and there is nothing to do over there. In summer season Naltar Valley is a very beautiful and easy reach but in winter Naltar Valley is also not accessible.

Khunjrab Pass is also closed but we are talking about border crossing. You can go towards Khunjrab Pass until you can there is no restriction on that. In fact, there are thousands of people who come to visit Hunza Valley in winter and go toward Khunjrab Pass. You can’t really go to the border crossing because of its altitude and weather.
